After a magnificent concert held on Sunday, a formal reception was held for pianist Eugen Indjic, at the City Hall of Kragujevac on Monday, March 18th. Maestro was received in front of the city was by Mr. Aleksandar Stajn, assistant to Mayor for internal and international cooperation. Beside the honourable guest, the representatives of the city and the representatives of our Association, the reception was attended also by prof. Dr Dubravka Jovicic, pianist and professor at the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade.
In his address, Mr. Aleksandar Stajn first thanked maestro Indjic for extraordinary concert and pointed out that it is an exceptional honour that this renowned artist chose Kragujevac for his performance, beside Belgrade. According to him, this concert determined the position of our city on the international cultural and artistic map.
In addition to the great gratitude to the city and the Association, pianist Eugen Indjic underlined that he will bring the most positive impressions from his visit to Kragujevac. As he stated, beside his sympathy for our city and the hall of the First Kragujevac Gymnasium in which he performed, the biggest and most beautiful impression was left by the audience. According to him, our audience is highly educated in music terms and has greatly followed and understood what the artist wanted to show. When you feel that understanding and energy, then you play better, maestro said, adding that he was very surprised and did not expect to enjoy the performance so much.
Prof. Dr Dubravka Jovicic has directed the gratitude to the city, but also praises to our Association for the organization of this event. Prof. Jovicic, one of the organizers and selector of this year’s International Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Belgrade, added that maestro will be the president of the jury of this competition, and after the concert in Kragujevac he will perform at the opening of competition with the RTS Symphony Orchestra. Also, prof. Jovicic announced that on March 27th, maestro Indjic will be awarded honorary doctorate at the University of Arts in Belgrade.
Jovana Radovanovic, president of the Citizens’ Association “CONVIVIUM MUSICUM”, greeted maestro Indjic and thanked him for the great concert he performed on this occasion. The words of gratitude were also addressed to the City of Kragujevac, which for several years has been supporting our Association in the work on creating a quality and successful music scene in the city and the region.
At the end of the reception, all present concluded that this concert will be an inspiring and unforgettable experience for all.
