The closing ceremony of the 4th International Festival of Convivium Musicum was marked by a yearning, but at the same time powerful sound of the cello. Kragujevac’s audience had the pleasure to enjoy playing of the magnificent Detmold cello ensemble. This unique ensemble is made by ten excellent cellists from different parts of Europe (Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Belgium and Serbia). Their artistic director is our renowned cellist Mladen Miloradovic, who arranged existing compositions for cello ensemble. All present enjoyed the program, which was based mainly on late romantic repertoire. Performers on stage noticeably enjoyed themselves, as well. The energy that each one of them shared as well as “conversations” of their instruments, impressed all present. Professionalism and high artistic level that was apparent in the works of Grieg, Villa Lobos, Strauss, Bartok, and especially Sibelius, would not be nearly enough, not to professional public, not to music lovers, if this unusual ensemble was not made of exceptional young people who closed this year Festival in grand style.
