Praised for their effortless integration of unique sounds, Trio Affekti is an unconventional piano trio comprised of saxophone, violin, and piano. Affekti aims to breathe new life to familiar and obscure works of classical music, and give light to music outside of the classical realm. The musicians blend together to create their inimitable style and free the audience from expectation.
Members of the trio have been successful in both their solo and chamber music careers. Their concert appearances include performances in Kuhmo Music Festival (Kuhmo, Finland), Beethovenwoche (Bonn, Germany), Bechstein Concert Series (Cologne, Germany), Xinghai Concert Hall (Guangzhou, China), and Meadowmount Chamber Music Festival (Westport, NY, USA), among others.
Trio Affekti was founded in 2013 in Cologne, Germany, and are studying a Chamber Music Master in the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. This was the first time such a possibility of studies was granted for this kind of combination of instruments.
Affekti’s mentors include members of Casals Quartet, Prof. Anthony Spiri, Prof. Daniel Gauthier, and Prof. Hans-Dietrich Klaus. In June 2014, Affekti was selected as a fellow of the Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Doerken Foundation. Additionally, the trio was invited to play on the German radio station WDR as part of the Open Auditions program in November 2014. Trio Affekti also won the Cologne Chamber Music Competition in 2015, and has recorded for WDR3 –Radio.
